Old school Danish “smørrebrød”, like tartar with a raw egg yolk and all the trimmings (pictured), has had quite a revival in Denmark and is more popular than ever with the younger as well as the older generations. If it’s well-made with good ingredients, that is…
Restaurant Kronborg in Copenhagen is a traditional Danish restaurant, focusing on classic ”smørrebrød”, a.k.a. open-faced sandwiches, tasty beers and aquavits and the slightly abstract Danish concept of “hygge” (most often translated as “cosiness”).
I co-own the restaurant with my partner and contribute – apart from once in a while giving a hand in the daily running of the business – with marketing and spreading the word about the good food and ambience on social media like Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Instagram and the restaurant’s blog.
On the blog the most popular posts seem to be recipes on slightly updated, classic “pieces”, like our take on a potato sandwich with smoked salmon or, when in season, compote of rosehip for your mature, Danish cheese.
